MACCC releases 2023 softball specialty awards, All-Conference teams
JACKSON, Miss. – Pearl River’s Brinson Anne Rogers and Northwest Mississippi’s McKaylee Polk earned the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference’s (MACCC) top softball postseason honors, the league announced today. Rogers and Polk were named MACCC Pitcher and Player of the Year following historic runs for both teams. The conference also released its 2023 All-MACCC teams.
Rogers, a native of Statesboro, Ga., led the MACCC and was atop the NJCAA in nearly every pitching category this season. The redshirt sophomore put up 267 strikeouts, averaging 11.66 strikeouts per game, and had a 1.05 ERA. Rogers also had a league best 6 shutouts in 28 games. Rogers also pitched 18 complete games this season and had an opponent batting average of just .129. Along the way, she picked up a slew of awards, including multiple MACCC Pitcher of the Week awards and an NJCAA Pitcher of the Week distinction.
Northwest Mississippi’s Polk was a force at bat, leading the MACCC in slugging percentage (1.348), on-base percentage (.652) and batting average (.563). Polk, who hails from Senatobia, also scored 22 home runs during the 2023 campaign.
Jones College’s Chris Robinson was voted softball coach of the year by his colleagues. Anderson led the No. 5 Bobcats to a 46-8 (26-2 MACCC) record and the team’s 13th MACCC regular season championship. Robinson is in his 14th season at the helm of the team, and saw 9 of his players earn league honors.
The individual awards and the All-MACCC Teams were selected following a vote of the league’s head coaches.
