MACCC Weekend Roundup: September 25
JACKSON, Miss. – It was another exciting week of MACCC football and men's and women's soccer action. We've got some new hires, and three MACCC student-athletes picked up some hardware on the national level for their performances.

Ruiz Ospina earns NJCAA Keeper of the Week
PERKINSTON — No. 17 Mississippi Gulf Coast has a big man in goal who stops almost everything he sees, but nobody could stop him from picking up a national award Wednesday.
David Ruiz Ospina won NJCAA Keeper of the Week in Division II for his efforts for the Bulldogs, who moved up to No. 17 in the rankings.
The freshman from Manizales, Colombia kept the archrival Pearl River at bay in earning a 4-1 win in Poplarville. He made five saves in the Bulldogs' conference opener.
Brown earns MACC and NJCAA Player of the Week honors
FULTON, Miss. - Russell Brown (New Orleans, La.) has been named Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DII Men's Soccer Player of the Week.
The freshman forward scored three goals and had an assist to help the Indians go 2-0 last week. In a 3-2 win over Southern Union State, Brown had one goal and one assist. He scored two goals in a 7-0 win over East Mississippi to open conference play.
Jadyn Duran Named NJCAA Offensive Player of the Week
CHARLOTTE - After first earning MACCC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
honors on Tuesday, Northwest sophomore Jadyn Duran has also been selected as the NJCAA Division II Women's Soccer Player of the Week, the organization announced on Wednesday morning.
Duran is the second Northwest player in as many weeks that has received NJCAA weekly honors, following last week's selection of Anna Kathryn Harrell as NJCAA Goalkeeper of the Week
A'tajua "Tay" Wren named as Lady Trojan Assistant Softball Coach
A'tajua "Tay" Wren has joined the MDCC softball team as an assistant coach. The Tupelo High School alum had an impressive career for the Golden Wave.
She recorded more than 30 wins and 300 strikeouts.
