MCC Women’s Tennis Wraps Season with National Tournament Finish

TYLER, Texas – The Meridian Community College Lady Eagles Women's Tennis Team capped off a successful 2024-25 season with a strong showing at the NJCAA Division I Women's Tennis National Tournament held May 3-7 in Tyler, Texas.

Ranked 18th in the nation heading into the tournament, the Lady Eagles faced some of the toughest competition in the country and held their own. The team secured wins in both singles and doubles play, collecting 11 points toward the final standings. MCC finished 16th overall after four days of competition.

The Lady Eagles advanced to the national tournament after finishing third in the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC), behind runner-up Mississippi Gulf Coast and champion Jones College. The team ended the regular season with a 10-9 overall record and a 6-3 mark in conference play.

Head Coach Ryan Mounce is proud of the team's effort throughout the year and their performance in Tyler. "This group earned their spot at Nationals and competed well in a very deep field," Mounce said. "They've grown over the course of the season, and qualifying for the national tournament is a great way to close out the year."

The national tournament in Tyler served as a fitting conclusion to a season marked by steady improvement and team commitment. From conference play to the national stage, the Lady Eagles demonstrated focus and resilience, setting a strong foundation for the future of the program.
