The Motlow Bucks took Northeast Mississippi Community College to overtime before falling short 96-89 Saturday afternoon at the Three Rivers Thanksgiving Classis in Poplar Bluff, MO.
Motlow (3-8, 1-3) played three non-conference games at the classic, falling to the host Three Rivers Community College 85-67 on Thursday and dropping a 92-79 decision to Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College on Friday.
The Bucks will return to TCCAA conference action when they host Walters State (4-6, 1-2) on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at 7:30 p.m. at Copperweld Arena on Motlow's Moore County campus. Admission is free.
Motlow and NE Mississippi were two evenly-matched teams. The Bucks led at halftime 34-31, but NE Mississippi won the second half 50-47 and the teams ended regulation tied at 81.
Free throws were the feature event and perhaps the difference, with NE Mississippi connecting on 32-44 and Motlow hitting 25-33.
NE Mississippi held a slight rebounding edge 50-49 and both teams turned the ball over 14 times.
Motlow sophomore Raymon Adams had a strong outing with 25 points and 12 rebounds. Kolbe Gray scored 24 points, hitting six 3-pointers, and added five rebounds and three steals.
Lavonte Harris scored 16 points and added three rebounds, and Matthew Jones had 15 points, seven rebounds, and three steals. Mi'Quan Tucker added nine points, five rebounds, and two steals.
