Lady Wolves Drop Season Opener to Lady Rangers

SENATOBIA – Co-Lin Women's Soccer took to the road to face off against Northwest Mississippi Community College in the season opener for the Lady Wolves on Wednesday, September 1. Despite the Lady Wolves getting off to an early lead, the Lady Rangers would earn a come-from-behind 5-2 win.

Taylor Ford (Florence) got the scoring started for the Lady Wolves as she found the back of the net in the seventh minute of the match giving the team a 1-0 lead. The Lady Rangers wasted little time in responding as Jennifer Enriquez scored her first goal in the eighth minute of the match tying the game at one goal each, while MJ Loeffel gave the Lady Rangers a 2-1 lead with a goal in the eleventh minute.

Ford once again tied the game at 2-2 with her second goal of the match for the Lady Wolves in the 29th minute; however, Enriquez added her second goal of the game on a penalty kick in the 40th minute giving the Lady Rangers a 3-2 lead at halftime.

The Lady Rangers added two more goals in the second half as Melinda Hernandez scored in the 53rd minute, while Enriquez scored her third and final goal, completing a hat trick, in the 75th minute.

Goalkeeper Alexandra Moon made 11 saves on 16 shots on goal throughout the match for the Lady Wolves. Co-Lin falls to 0-1 overall on the season and will return to action with a road contest against the Lady Bulldogs of Holmes Community College on Tuesday, September 7. The action on the pitch will kickoff at 1 p.m.
