
Wolves rally falls short in loss to Gulf Coast
PERKINSTON– The Co-Lin Wolves second half rally was not enough as the host Mississippi Gulf Coast Bulldogs defeated the Wolves 74-58.
"We had a hard time playing against Gulf Coast's length and size," said Co-Lin head basketball coach Kenny Bizot. "They did a great job guarding us tonight."
Co-Lin played tough in the first half trailing the bigger Bulldogs 34-31 at the half.
Gulf Coast put together a 23-5 run in the second half to take a 57-36 lead halfway through the second half. But the Wolves put together a 19-2 run, including five 3-points, to pull with four. Gulf Coast would put together a 15-5 run to close out the game.
The Wolves were led by sophomore JD Allen (Wesson/Wesson Attendance Center) with a game-high 21 points. Allen also led off the boards with seven rebounds. No other Wolves would score in double figures. AJ Wansley (ByramTerry High School) chipped in eight points and had three blocks. Quandarius Studaway (Clinton/Clinton High School) dished out eight assists.
Anthony Ratliff led five Bulldogs in double figures with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Dontavius Proby netted 12 points, five rebounds and three assists. Jayden McCorvey had 11 points, five rebounds and four steals. Carr Thiam and Rodrique Massenat chipped in 10 points apiece.
