GOODMAN --- Holmes sophomore guard K.J. Sykes hit a three-pointer with less than a second remaining to give the Holmes Community College Bulldogs an 84-82 win here Monday over the Itawamba Community College Indians.
Holmes finished the regular season 20-7 and 8-6 in the MACCC. Holmes will go into the Region 23 Tournament as the No. 6 seed and will play the No. 11 seeded Mississippi Delta Community College Trojans at 6 p.m. in Goodman Thursday.
Holmes trailed Itawamba 41-28 at halftime. Trey Smith hit two free throws late in regulation to force overtime tied at 71. Cameron Wallace, who finished with 32 points, scored nine points in overtime to help lift the Bulldogs to the win.
Sykes finished with 17 points while Christian Parks had 16. Parks finished with nine rebounds.
The Bulldogs shot 49.2 percent from the floor (30-of-61) in the game.
