Wolves Earn Second Straight Victory

HILLSBORO, Mo. – The Co-Lin Men's Soccer team hit the road for a match against Jefferson College on Wednesday, September 4. The Wolves earned their first shutout of the season taking the match, 2-0.

"This was a very good result against a tough opponent," stated Cosgrave. "We started the game slow, but we fixed a few things at halftime and came out in the second half with the right intensity."

The match was scoreless throughout the first half as neither team could find the back of the net despite solid scoring opportunities for both sides during the first 45 minutes. The Wolves wasted no time getting on the board in the second half though as Alvaro De La Torre (A Coruna, Spain) beat the keeper with an assist from Francisco Miquel (Bogota, Colombia) in the 52nd minute to give the Wolves a 1-0 leader. The Wolves then scored their second goal of the match in the 80th minute as Brady Peacock (Pearl) blasted the ball by the keeper with an assist from De La Torre to secure the 2-0 victory.

"One of the great things we are seeing is that we can play 22 different players and the level doesn't drop," stated Cosgrave. "We have a very talented squad, and everyone is chipping in and playing their part when needed. It's always nice to come away with a win after a long road trip up there."

Co-Lin improves to 2-0-0 overall on the season and returns to action for their home opener against LSU-Alexandria on Friday, September 13. The action on the pitch between the Generals and the Wolves kicks off at 4 p.m., in Wesson.

"The team is starting to click very quickly as we are getting ready for conference play to start soon," added Cosgrave. "I'm excited to see this group challenged and pushed as we face some tough conference opponents."
