
ELLISVILLE, Miss. – The Itawamba Community College women's tennis team dropped a hard-fought, 5-2 match against No. 2 seed Gulf Coast in the Region 23 quarterfinals round on Thursday.
Although Ainsley Robison (Guntown) and Melina Vasquez (Buenos Aires, Argentina) picked up the 8-6 victory at No. 3 doubles, the Lady Indians were down 2-1 after Rayssa Domingues (Bebedouro, Brazil) and Presley Thomas (Oxford) dropped a competitive match at No. 1 doubles, 8-5. Caitlyn Ard (Pontotoc) and Lucia Rubio (Valencia, Spain) fell 8-4 at No. 2.
In singles action, Addison Joshlin (Saltillo) picked up ICC's last win with a strong performance at No. 6, winning 6-4, 6-4. Vazquez was defeated (6-3, 6-4) in No. 3. Ard fell at No. 4, 6-2, 6-0, while Thomas was defeated at No. 5, 6-1, 6-3. Domingues and Rubio were in tight battles at No. 1 and No. 2, but weren't able to complete their matches before Gulf Coast secured the victory.
The Lady Indians finished the 2025 season with a 7-7 overall record and a 4-5 mark in MACCC competition.
