
FULTON, Miss. – The Indians earned a split with No. 23 Northeast in conference play on Wednesday.
Game 1: Tigers 9, Indians 6
Despite a two-home run performance by Jude Treadaway, the Indians fell short in a back-and-fourth game one against the rival Tigers, 9-6.
Northeast struck first in the first inning with an RBI single, but ICC took the lead in the third after Treadaway hit his first home run of the contest, scoring two runs to make it 2-1 in favor of the Indians.
The Tigers reclaimed the lead in the top of the fifth with two runs and the Indians took it right back after Treadaway hit his second two-run home run in the bottom half of the inning to make it a 4-3 score.
Northeast got back in front, 5-4, in the sixth with a pair of runs off a 2 RBI single. The Tigers added three runs to their lead in the eighth and one in the ninth.
In the bottom of the ninth, Jack Clayton scored on a wild pitch shortly before Evan McCarthy singled to score Treadaway, but the Indians' rally fell short.
Will Lipscomb was the pitcher of record for ICC, surrendering two runs on no hits with a walk. Everett Thompson opened the contest for the Indians, striking out five batters and walking two while allowing four hits and three runs (zero earned) over five innings of work.
Treadaway went 4-for-5 at the plate with four RBIs while McCarthy added an RBI on two hits.
Game 2: Indians 4, Tigers 2
Jud Files tossed a career-high 13 strikeouts to help the Indians earn the 4-2 bounce-back victory over Northeast.
The Tigers opened the contest with a 1-0 lead, but Madden Butler used an RBI single to score Jude Treadaway and tie the game.
Northeast took a 2-1 lead in the second with an RBI triple, and the Indians put the momentum in their favor in the fourth after a Tiger error that scored Jarrett Morris, a triple by Evan McCarthy to score Hank Stalnaker and a single by Butler that drove home McCarthy.
Files picked up the win for ICC following his strong 13-strikeout performance on the mound. He surrendered four hits and two runs through six and two-thirds innings of work. Brayden Billingsley came in for relief in the top of the seventh and recorded the game-sealing strikeout.
Butler provided a spark in the Indians' lineup as he led with two hits and two RBIs while Morris added two hits to the stat sheet.
