RIDGELAND --- The No. 6 Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs had three players --- Callie McKinney, Jaelyn Hanson and Darian Blackburn --- with multiple goals here Friday as the Lady Bulldogs knocked off the Northwest Mississippi Community College Lady Rangers, 9-3.
With the win, the Lady Bulldogs improved to 5-1-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the North Division. The Lady Bulldogs will play at Itawamba on Tuesday at 1 p.m. and at Meridian on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
McKinney got the Lady Bulldogs on the scoreboard in the 13th minute on an assist from Olivia Deslatte to tie the match at one. McKinney scored an unassisted goal in the 19th minute to tie the match at two.
Katelin Johnson gave the Lady Bulldogs the lead for good in the 27th minute on an assist from McKinney. Hanson got her first goal in the 36th minute on an assist from Falon Lawrence, and Holmes led 4-2 at halftime.
Hanson picked up her second goal in the 45th minute on an assist from McKinney to go up 5-2.
Mia Mauro got a goal in the 50th minute on an assist from Savannah Turner to go up 6-2. Sydney Nester scored on an assist from McKinney in the 61st minute to go up 7-3.
Blackburn scored her first goal in the 78th minute to go up 8-3. She then scored again a minute later on an assist from Deslatte to finish the scoring at 9-3.
