No. 22 Mississippi Gulf Coast lost a pair of two-run road softball games Friday to No. 12 Northeast Mississippi.
The Bulldogs lost 2-0 and 5-3 in Booneville.
In the second game, they took a 2-1 lead in the fourth on an RBI single by Caroline Batson (Fr., Wiggins/Stone) and by taking advantage of a first-and-third situation that allowed Abby Lindsey (Fr., Decatur, Ala./Austin) to score.
The Tigers scored three times in the bottom of the inning, and Baleigh Tullos (Fr., Hurley/East Central) got Gulf Coast within 4-3 with an RBI single up the middle.
Brooklyn Mitchell (Fr., Gulfport/St. Patrick) had a pair of hits.
Karley Rouse (So., D'Iberville/D'Iberville) threw a four-hitter in the opener to take the hard-luck loss. She struck out six, allowing just a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Tullos had two hits for Gulf Coast (24-12, 5-7 MACCC).
Northeast is 30-3, 12-2.
The Bulldogs are back on the road Wednesday when they play Southwest Mississippi. The doubleheader starts at 3 p.m.
