
Wolves fall to Hinds 90-80
WESSON – The undefeated Hinds Bulldogs defeated the Co-Lin Wolves 90-80 in men's basketball action Thursday night.
Hinds, who led by as many as 12 in the first half, only held a six point lead at the half 48-42. Three-pointers by Co-Lin's Demarcus Ellzey (Magnolia/South Pike High School) and Dee Merriweather (Memphis, TN/East Memphis High School) cut the Bulldog lead to 39-35 with 2:26 remaining in the half. The Bulldogs would answer with a 6-0 run with less than a minute to play. A trey by JD Allen (Wesson/Wesson Attendance Center) and four free throws by Ellzey cut the lead to 48-42.
Co-Lin would make a run in the beginning of the second half, a pair of free throws by Quandarius Studaway (Clinton/Clinton High School) and a three-pointer by Cameron Butler cut the Hinds lead to 48-47. But the Bulldogs answered with a 20-5 run to take a 67-52 lead with 12:42 left in the game and would never look back.
Ellzey led the Wolves with 23 points, 6-for-10 from behind the arc. Merriweather followed with 16 points. Jordan Johnson (Baton Rouge, LA/Madison Prep Academy) led off the backboards with 7 rebounds. Studaway dished out 7 assists.
Jordan Johnson led Hinds with a game-high 24 points. Justyn King and Damerius Wash followed with 15 and 12 points respectively.
