Wolves Drop Road Game Against Lions

SCOOBA – The Co-Lin Men's Basketball team returned to conference action on the road against East Mississippi on Thursday, January 23. The Lions beat the Wolves, 78-65.

The first half was a back-and-forth battle between the two teams as they exchanged baskets, leads, and ties throughout the first 20 minutes of play. However, the first half ended with the Lions holding a slim lead, 28-27, as the two teams entered the locker rooms at halftime. The second half saw the Wolves put up a valiant fight, but the Lions outscored them, 50-38, to secure the 78-65 win.

The Wolves had four players in double-digit scoring during the game led by Deven Bates (Jackson) with 19 points along with six rebounds, seven assists, and two steals. Jayden Jackson (Camden) had 11 points with two rebounds while Dakotah Hillard (Hazlehurst) and Fred Gray, Jr., (Belzoni) had ten points each. Hillard also had five rebounds, three assists, and two steals while Gray had one rebound and one steal.

Keisean Shields (Atoka, OK) had nine points with two rebounds and two assists while Chris Stephens, Jr., (Byram) had three points with four rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Prince Ojukwu (Etobicoke, Ontario) had two points and Brick Nkugwa (Kampala, Uganda) had one point to round out the scoring for the Wolves.

Co-Lin is now 8-7 overall, 0-3 in MACCC play, and will return to action hosting Holmes on Monday, January 27. Tip-off between the Bulldogs and the Wolves is set for 7:30 p.m., at Mullen Gym in Wesson.
