
MERIDIAN, Miss. – The Indians picked up a road split with Meridian on Saturday.
Game 1: Eagles 2, Indians 0
The Indians dropped game one of Saturday's doubleheader at Meridian, 2-0.
The contest was a scoreless stalemate until the Eagles got on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning with two runs.
Everett Thompson was the pitcher of record for ICC, striking out four batters and walking four while giving up two runs on seven hits in six innings of work.
At the plate, Houston Green led the Indians with two hits while Jude Treadaway and Bryson Jackson each collected one.
Game 2: Indians 6, Eagles 5
The Indians bounced back in game two, picking up the 6-5 win over Meridian to earn the split.
The Eagles opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning with a run, but ICC answered in the top of the fourth when Bryson Jackson delivered a 2 RBI single to put the Indians in front, 2-1.
In the top of the fifth, Stone Collier added to ICC's lead with an RBI single that scored Jude Treadaway and made it a 3-1 advantage. In the bottom half of the inning, Meridian plated two runs to take a 4-3 lead.
The Indians tied it back up in the top of the sixth when Bryson Jackson reached on an error, allowing Nathan Ferris to score from second. In the top of the seventh, Collier delivered the go-ahead 2 RBI double to put ICC in front.
The Eagles did make it a one-run game in the bottom of the seventh, but the Indians held on to secure the game two victory.
Nathan Reed picked up the win for the Indians, striking out three batters while surrendering five runs (one earned) on four hits in five innings of work.
Collier, Treadaway, and Ferris each led ICC with two hits apiece, with Collier tallying three RBIs and Jackson adding two.
