Fulton, Miss. – Itawamba Community College saw the 2022 football end Thursday night with a 30-10 loss to Coahoma Community College.
The Indians struggled offensively and were held to 132 yards of total offense to Coahoma's 434 yards.
Coahoma scored on the game's opening drive, but the Indian defense held them scoreless for the rest of the first quarter and most of the second. However, a pick six and a late 40-yard touchdown pass gave the Tigers a 21-0 lead at halftime.
The Tigers extended their lead to 27-0 early in the third quarter, but the Indians scored 10 unanswered points to cut the Tigers' lead to a three score game with plenty of time left on the clock.
Price Nixon (Clinton) hit a 26-yard field goal midway through the third quarter for the Indians' first points, and Azaria Smith (Tipton, Ga.) led a 47-yard drive that he capped off with a 1-yard touchdown run.
Despite the third quarter rally, the Indians were unable to complete their comeback effort and the Tigers capped off the game's scoring on a fourth quarter field goal.
Phil Oliver (Horn Lake) led the Indian defense with 16 total tackles and assisted on a quarterback sack.
The Indians finished the season 3-6 overall and 3-3 in MACCC North Division play.
