
FULTON, Miss. – The Indians defense gave up less than 200 yards of offense in a 10-0 win over the Pearl River Wildcats at Eaton Field.
The Indians (2-0) took a 3-0 lead into the locker room after Eli Burciaga (Corinth) connected on a 30-yard field goal with 5:39 left in the second quarter. ICC went up 10-0 on a 17-yard touchdown pass from Ty Davis (Fulton) to Tyran Mosley (Kosciusko) late in the third quarter.
Davis was 6-for-11 for 35 yards and a touchdown.
The Wildcats (1-1) looked primed to put points on the board when they drove to Indians' one-yard line on fourth down. Jayden Walker (Aberdeen) stuffed the run attempt for no gain to preserve the shutout with 7:54 left in the game.
ICC's defense forced Pearl River into four-straight turnover on downs in the fourth quarter.
Walker, Jaiyden Thompson (Okolona), Collin Dunn (Tuscaloosa, AL), Dylan Rowsey (Rienzi) and Jamarion Scott (Tupelo) each had five tackles on the night. The Indians held the Wildcats to 179 yards of offense (130 passing; 49 rushing) while recording nine tackles for loss, six pass breakups, five sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception.
Offensively, the Indians rolled up 248 yards (177 rushing; 71 passing). Jaylen Sulton (Southaven) had 66 yards on 12 carries, Mykel Allen (Batesville) added 56 yards on 10 carries and Jaylen Foster (Greenwood, SC) rushed 12 times for 54 yards. Tavion Faulk complete three passes for 36 yards and an interception.
The Indians will host East Central (1-1) on Thursday in their final non-conference game of the season. The Warriors saw their second half rally come up short in a 22-17 loss to Northwest (1-1).
