Miami Dade Falls Short in Game 2 of Doubleheader Against Mississippi Gulf Coast
Miami Dade battled but came up short in Game 2 of their doubleheader against Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, falling 9-6 in a back-and-forth contest.
The Sharks got off to a strong start, plating three runs in the first inning thanks to a wild pitch, a sacrifice fly from Thomas White, and another from Matt Thorsen. Miami Dade chipped away in the third when Thorsen drove in Santiago Carriles-Alvarado with a double, cutting the deficit to 5-4. The Bulldogs added an insurance run in the fourth with a Griffin Wells RBI double, extending their lead to 6-4.
The Sharks rallied in the sixth, bringing home two runs on a sacrifice fly from David Zamora and an RBI single by Cian Copeland to tie the game at six. However, Mississippi Gulf Coast answered right back with three runs in the bottom of the frame, capitalizing on a bases-loaded walk and RBI singles from Landon Holliman and Kaden Irving.
