Fulton, Miss. – After opening North Division play with a road win at Hinds, the Indians hosted East Central for another division battle.
The Indians (3-2, 2-0 MACCC North)took an early lead in the contest when Jose Villanueva (Maylene, Ala.) scored on a penalty kick, after the Warriors were called for a foul inside the box.
Villanueva's goal at the sixth minute was all the scoring in the first half and the 1-0 lead held until the 80th minute when Ronald Akinsehinwa (Olive Branch) picked up a rebound off a Tyrique Davis (Alabaster, Ala.) shot, and sent it to the back of the net.
East Central didn't go away with a fight thought as they cut the lead to 2-1 with 3:33 left to play. However, the Indians were able to hold off the late charge to pick up the 2-1 win and remain unbeaten in division play.
The Indians will host Holmes Tuesday for another North Division matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. in Fulton and will be available on LetsGoICCTV.com/red.
