The East Central Community College Lady Warrior softball team is back in postseason play and ready to make noise once again, as they head to the NJCAA Region 23 Softball Tournament beginning Saturday, May 3, on the campus of Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson, Miss.
With an overall record of 24-18, the Lady Warriors are looking to reignite the spark that carried them to the NJCAA Division II World Series last season, where they earned a spot via an at-large bid after a strong post-season showing. This year's team is eager to make another deep postseason push.
East Central enters tournament play after a regular season that saw the Lady Warriors finish 14-14 in the always-challenging MACCC conference action. Despite a recent three-game skid, the team has proven its ability to compete in tight games, boasting a balanced record both at home (12-8) and on the road (9-9), with an impressive 3-1 mark at neutral sites—like the one they'll face this weekend in Wesson
The Lady Warriors will open Region 23 tournament play on Saturday against Itwamaba Community College, a team the Lady Warriors swept in conference play, with first pitch scheduled for 5 p.m. With a win, the Lady Warriors would continue into the double-elimination tournament, but a loss would wrap up the 2025 campaign.
