
Wolves Drop Road Game Against Tigers
BOONEVILLE – The Co-Lin Men's Basketball team hit the road for a conference matchup against Northeast Mississippi on Thursday, February 6. The Tigers beat the Wolves, 103-87.
The Tigers opened the game with a 16-6 scoring run to hold a lead by that margin with 14:49 left to play. The Tigers then use a 14-3 scoring run to push their lead to 30-9 with 9:36 left on the clock. The Wolves then responded with an 18-10 scoring run to cut the lead down to 40-27 with 4:27 remaining in the half. The Wolves then closed out the half with a 10-7 scoring run, but the Tigers held a 47-37 as the teams entered the locker rooms at halftime.
The Tigers opened the second half with a 16-9 scoring run to push their lead to 63-46 with 14:54 left on the clock. The Tigers then used a 17-10 scoring run to push their lead to 80-56 with 9:53 remaining. The Wolves then used a 19-12 scoring run to cut the lead down to 92-75 with 4:34 left to play in the game. The Wolves closed out the game with a 12-11 scoring run but could not overcome the deficit as the Tigers sealed the 103-87 win.
Deven Bates (Jackson) led the way offensively for the Wolves with a game-leading 26 points and narrowly missed a double-double with nine rebounds while Keisean Shields (Atoka, OK) provided a spark off the bench with a career-high 17 points while Antonio Oatis (Hattiesburg) had 13 points and four rebounds. Dakotah Hillard (Hazlehurst) had ten points with six rebounds while Prince Ojukwu (Etobicoke, Ontario) also narrowly missed a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds.
Chris Stephens, Jr., (Byram) and Jayden Jackson (Camden) had four points each, Demarion Terry (Edwards) had two points, and Dawson Knox (Brookhaven) had one point to round out the scoring for the Wolves.
Co-Lin is now 9-10 overall, 1-6 in conference play and will return to conference play hosting Pearl River on Monday, February 10. Tip-off between the Wildcats and the Wolves is set for 7:30 p.m., at Mullen Gym in Wesson.
