Lady Wolves Fall in Overtime

MERIDIAN – The Co-Lin Women's Soccer team played their second straight overtime game on Tuesday, September 14, during a road contest against Meridian. The Lady Eagles won the contest over the Lady Wolves, 2-1.

The Lady Eagles got on the board first with a goal in the 27th minute; however, the Lady Wolves responded just a few minutes later as freshman midfielder Sarah Nalley (Brandon) blasted a goal past the Lady Eagles keeper in the 33rd minute with an assist from sophomore forward Taylor Ford (Florence). The game remained tied, 1-1, throughout the first half.

The second half saw the teams have just five combined shots on goal with none finding the back of the net as the game remained tied through the end of regulation sending the match into overtime. The Lady Eagles scored the game winning goal in the 98th minute sealing the 2-1 win.

Sophomore goalkeeper Alexandra Moon (Poynton with Worth, England) faced ten shots on goal throughout the match making eight saves.

The Lady Wolves are now 1-3-0 overall and 1-1-0 in South Division play and will have their home opener on Friday, September 17, with a contest against Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. The action on the pitch is set to kick off at 11 a.m., at H.L. Stone Stadium.
