Decatur, MS - In their latest match on September 2, 2024, the East Central Community College men's soccer team faced a tough challenge, falling 3-0 to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College at home. The match started with Mississippi Gulf Coast applying pressure early, leading to a breakthrough in the 20th minute when Neko Worthy scored, assisted by Alexander Mink. Despite efforts from East Central to respond, they struggled to create clear chances against a well-organized Gulf Coast defense.
The second half saw the visitors extend their lead. Victor Moerck found the net in the 66th minute after a Luke Hopkins setup, putting the Warriors in a difficult position. East Central's defense, led by goalkeeper Jacobo Giraldo, who made four saves, worked hard to keep the scoreline respectable. However, Gulf Coast sealed the victory with a late goal by Dorian Robinson in the 87th minute, assisted by Kade Smith.
