MOORHEAD – The 2021 season is now underway for the Mississippi Delta Community College women's basketball program, and the Trojans of MDCC have dropped their first two contests of the season after Monday night's 81-50 loss at Northeast Mississippi Community College.
Delta played host to Itawamba Community College in the season opener on Thursday, Jan. 21, and fell 71-60 to the Indians of ICC.
Bryneish Eason (Olive Branch) was the lone double digit scorer for MDCC on Monday, as she had 11 points. The freshman was 3-7 from the floor and 5-6 from the free throw line.
Rodericka Parker (Selma, Ala.) led all Delta scorers in the season opener vs. ICC with 17 points. This marked the collegiate debut for Parker, who also dished out three assists.
Antanisha Wade (Cleveland) and Makia Willis (Lumberton) each scored in double digits against ICC, as Wade had 13 points and Willis finished with 10 points.
MDCC returns to the court tonight, hosting Coahoma Community College at 6 p.m. at J.T. Hall Coliseum in Moorhead. Due to COVID-19 guidelines, only 10% capacity is allowed in the coliseum and only those on the pass list for MDCC players, coaches and managers are allowed. No general public or visiting fans are allowed.
All MDCC home games are set to tip off at 6 p.m. and can be viewed on the college's YouTube channel, which is found by searching "MDCC Sports Network."
