MOORHEAD – After a rough early going to the 2021 season, the Mississippi Delta Community College women's basketball team has won three of their last five games as the regular season campaign is nearing an end.
The latest Trojan results are as follows:
MDCC vs HOLMES, 3/18
Delta was able to grab a crucial victory at home against Holmes Community College on Thursday night, coming away with a narrow 57-53 win in Moorhead.
Makia Willis (Lumberton) led all MDCC scorers with 15 points and was aided in the effort by Antanisha Wade (Cleveland), who finished with 11 points.
MDCC vs EAST MISSISSIPPI, 3/15
The Trojans played host to East Mississippi Community College on March 15 and looked to avenge an early season loss to the Lions, but it was not meant to be, as EMCC escaped Moorhead with a 60-58 win at the hands of MDCC.
Willis was a force to be reckoned with, as she had 23 points and six rebounds to lead the charge for the Trojans in the tough defeat.
MDCC vs ITAWAMBA, 3/11
Delta traveled to Fulton at the end of the college's annual Spring Break vacation, but was unable to come away with a road victory, falling 77-42 to Itawamba Community College.
Willis had 10 points and four rebounds to lead the way.
MDCC vs NORTHWEST, 3/8
MDCC picked up a major Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) victory on March 8 in Senatobia, defeating Northwest Mississippi Community College, 79-66.
Wade had a huge night for the Trojans, finishing with 30 points, three rebounds and three assists.
Bryneish Eason (Olive Branch) had 16 points and eight rebounds, while Rodericka Parker (Selma, Ala.) finished with 10 points, six rebounds, three steals and three assists.
UP NEXT
MDCC plays host to Northeast Mississippi Community College on Thrusday night at 6 p.m. in a makeup game that was canceled earlier in the season due to COVID-19 issues within the Northeast program.
The Trojans will wrap up the regular season on Saturday, heading to Fulton to take on Itawamba Community College at 2 p.m. in a makeup game that was originally postponed due to winter storms in mid-February.
