Bio

Susie "Big Sue" Fudge is a 1980 graduate of Coahoma Community
College. During her time at Coahoma, she was one of the best
Lady Tigers ever to step foot on the court. Fudge made her way to
Clarksdale from her hometown of Bonita, Louisiana. She was a key
starter during the 1978 and 1979 basketball seasons. Coahoma's
head coach at the time, Ella Stampley-Morris, heavily relied on
Fudge and her intimidating presence in the paint. Fudge averaged
25 points per game and assisted Coahoma in having its most
successful season, during which time the team was ranked No. 2
in the nation. During her last season at Coahoma, Fudge and her
teammates averaged 102 points per game and won the state title
in 1979, advancing to the regional tournament.
Big Sue's high point game averages and ability to get to the basket
despite opposition from some of the league's best defensive players made her a star standout when being
observed by recruiters. After graduating from Coahoma with an associate's degree in physical education, she
was offered a basketball scholarship to Arkansas College in Batesville, Arkansas, now known as Lyon College.
The Scots received a powerful lefty who dominated on the court. In addition to being a student-athlete, Fudge
received all AIC (Arkansas Intercollegiate Conference) honors.
Fudge could not complete her studies at the time, as she returned home to be a caregiver for her parents. Two
years later, Fudge would explore her passion for hairstyling and attend beauty school in Bastrop, LA. Upon
graduation, she opened her own salon and has been self-employed for the last 35 years.
She was inducted into Coahoma Athletics Sports Hall of Fame in 2014. Fudge currently lives in Bastrop, LA. She
is thankful for her five older brothers who all contributed in making her such an incredible basketball player.
