Bio
Greg was born and raised in Amite County Mississippi where
Gillsburg is called home. He is the son of the late Odessa and
Mary Wall. He is a graduate of Liberty High School, Southwest MS
Community College and the University of Southern Mississippi
where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. While
attending Southwest, he was a two year letterman in football where
he played the position of running back.
He has been inducted in the Southwest MS Community College
Sports Hall of Fame and MS Association of Coaches Hall of Fame.
He had thirty one years of service in public education holding the
position of head football coach and athletic director before his
retirement. His accomplishments as head football coach at South
Pike include two 4A state championships, five 4A south stage championships, and numerous district tiles.
During his tenure as Brookhaven High School head football coach the school had their first undefeated regular
season in 1997, the first time this had happened in forty years.
His many awards include MS Association of Coaches Athletic Director of the Year – 1989, Mississippi Association
of Coaches Football Coach of the Year – 1992, Mississippi High School All Star Head Football Coach – 1991, and
MS – Alabama High School All Star Head Football Coach – 2002.
He is also retired from the US Military with twenty-two years of service. In his retirement, he enjoys fishing,
hunting, but most of all being a paw-paw. Greg is a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Gillsburg.
He is married to Linda Jones Wall. He is the proud father of Brinson Wall (wife Jacqueline) who is the head
football coach at South Pike High School and Mary Helen Wall, Deputy Attorney General for MS. He has three
grandchildren: Kaylea Wall, C.J. Wall, and Hana Wall.
