Indianola native Troy Griffin, a sophomore quarterback, helped lead the Delta Trojans to a 23-7 Homecoming victory this past Thursday afternoon on the Sandy Wilson field at Jim Randall Stadium, in Moorhead, Mississippi. This is the first victory over the Hinds Eagles that Trojan Football has enjoyed in almost 20 years. Backup, Quarterback Griffin was 11 of 18 throwing at a 61% clip for 74 yards, with 1 touchdown toss and no interceptions. Young Griffin also did a lot of damage to the Eagles defense by scoring 2 touchdowns with his legs on 15 carriers for 125 total rushing yards. Griffin's long run was a 58 yard scamper to the endzone late in the fourth quarter. The Trojans improve to a 1-2 overall record and will travel to take on Itawamba Community College this coming Thursday evening. Number 5 was just shy of 200 total yards gained on the day for the Trojans and was outstandingly productive with 3 touchdowns scored and no turnovers recorded.
