MACCC announces shortened fall football schedule
Jackson, Miss. -- The Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) today announced its divisional football schedule, to begin on August 27. The 2020-2021 season was shortened following a series of setbacks related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Each school will play an 8-game regular season, ending in a four-team playoff.
"The safety and security of the MACCC's student-athletes, coaches, school community and staff is our primary concern," said MACCC Commissioner Steve Martin. "Out of an abundance of caution, and in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the MACCC and its leadership have amended the 2020-2021 football season in order to ensure safety protocols are in place for student-athletes, coaches, and support staff."
The 2019-2020 season saw MACCC member institution Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College go undefeated as they coasted to the conference championship. The Bulldogs rolled through NJCAA opponents in the national tournament in Pittsburgh, Kansas, ultimately defeating Lackawanna College in the title game, 24-13.

The MACCC South, consists of Hinds, Pearl River, East Central, Southwest, Copiah-Lincoln, Jones and Mississippi Gulf Coast. The MACCC North is made up of Northeast Mississippi, Holmes, Coahoma, Mississippi Delta, Itawamba, and Northwest. East Mississippi opted out of the fall MACCC football season.
