From Europe to Coahoma: Joey Walden Joins Tigers as Wide Receivers Coach
Coahoma Community College is proud to announce the addition of Joey Walden as the new Wide Receivers Coach for the Tigers football team. Walden has a wealth of experience, having played collegiate and professional football.
Walden, a 2014 graduate of Oxford High School, began his football career as a standout wide receiver for the Oxford High Chargers. His performance earned him a spot with the Ole Miss Rebels, where he initially played out of high school. However, seeking a larger role, Walden transferred to Belhaven University. There, he excelled, earning Pre-season All-American honors and All-Conference recognition.
Southwest Student Athletes, Coaches praise Women's Wellness Seminar
For many student athletes, they can deal with several issues while in college. Trying to excel in the classroom while simultaneously working to be the best on the fields or courts, can have its affects in multiple aspects including their physicality, mentality and social life. And while it can be a lot to deal with for male student athletes, it can be even more female student athletes.
In order to help them deal with the issues, Southwest Mississippi Community College recently hosted a Women's Wellness Seminar attended by Southwest female student athletes and female coaches, which included talks from professionals on a number of topics pertaining to mental health and physical health.
Meridian Community College Golf Team Secures Back-to-Back MACCC wins
Brookhaven – The Meridian Community College (MCC) Eagles golf team continued their winning streak today, capturing their second consecutive MACCC win at the MACCC Event #2 hosted by Co-Lin at Brookhaven Country Club. Following their win at the MACCC Preview two weeks ago, the Eagles solidified their position as a top contender in the conference.
After the first round, the Eagles trailed the Hinds Eagles by just one stroke, but their determination paid off in the second round. With a strong team effort, MCC surged ahead to claim the championship, finishing three strokes ahead of the East Central Warriors.

The Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) is one of the premier community college conferences in the country and ranks among the elite in the nation in terms of alumni on professional sports teams.
Current championship competition offered by the league includes competition for men in baseball, basketball, football, golf, soccer and tennis.
Women's competition is offered in the sports of basketball, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball.
