Bio
Yolanda Brown is a native of New Orleans, a former standout collegiate volleyball player and women's volleyball coach. Yolanda was named 1999 SWAC Player of the Year at Grambling State University and 2010 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Coach of the Year during her tenure as head volleyball coach at Dillard University.
As a coach, she led Dillard University to its first conference championship in the sport of volleyball, the university’s first conference championship post- Hurricane Katrina. She was also a 2012 nominee for HBCU Female Head Coach of the year. In 2015, Yolanda was an NCAA/NACWAA Institute for Administrative Advancement scholarship recipient.
In 2016 she developed the first all girls’ sports initiative for the city of New Orleans, S.W.A.A.G (Something Wonderful About an Athletic Girl). In 2019 Brown was also named manager for the NORDC/NOPS middle school collaborative league.
Brown is a graduate of Grambling State University (B.A) in 2000 and Ashford University (MPA) in 2017. She is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, and is an active member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), the United States Volleyball Association (USVA) and Women Leaders in College Sports formerly known as NACWAA.
