Fredd Adams' Breakout Performance Earns MACCC Weekly Honors

Volleyball - Offense
Layla Dyer, Northwest Mississippi Community College
(So, S - Lafayette, La., 10)
Northwest sophomore setter Layla Dyer was again a fundamental piece of the Lady Rangers' offense in a clean sweep of Champion Christian College and Spurgeon College on Saturday. The Lafayette, La. native tallied 62 assists in two matches, bringing her season total to 417 assists. (Dyer previously set the single-season and career record for assists last season with 911).
Volleyball - Defense
Kaya Coleman, Northwest Mississippi Community College
(R-So, MB - Cobden, Ill., 8)
Northwest sophomore middle blocker Kaya Coleman had another strong week for the Lady Rangers in a pair of 3-0 victories against Champion Christian College and Spurgeon College on Saturday. The Cobden, Ill. native tallied nine total blocks in the two matches, bringing her season total to a team-high of 47.
Women's Soccer - Goalkeeper
Anna Kathryn Harrell, Northwest Mississippi Community College
(So, GK - Tupelo, Miss., 1)
Northwest sophomore goalkeeper Anna Kathryn Harrell earned another pair of victories last week against Southwestern Illinois College and 13th-ranked St. Louis. The Tupelo native tallied six saves on the week and allowed just one goal against Southwestern Illinois, just her third goal allowed this season. For the season, Harrell has 19 saves and an .864 save percentage.
Women's Soccer - Offense
Isobel Kinsella, Itawamba Community College
(FR, F - Gloucestershire, UK, 9)
Freshman forward Isobel Kinsella (Gloucestershire, UK) had a hand in 5 of the 6 goals in the Itawamba's 6-0 road win over Gordon State. She had 4 assists and added a goal over the weekend. Her 4 assists tied a team record for most assists in a match. Itawamba improved to 5-0 on the season with the win.
Men's Soccer - Goalkeeper
Cameron Kent, Pearl River Community College
(R-Fr, GK - Brandon, miss., 38)
Cameron Kent (Brandon) had a fantastic week in goal for the No. 11 Pearl River men's soccer team. Although he didn't start the first half against Southwestern Illinois, the redshirt freshman entered the game in the second half and made six saves without allowing a goal to secure a victory. Against No. 14 St. Louis, Kent kept a clean sheet by turning away all four shots he faced.
Men's Soccer - Offense
Cody Barnett, Hinds Community College
(Fr, RF/ST - Clinton, MS, 8))
Reigning MACCC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, Cody Barnett, once again put on a performance this week with two goals and an assist in the win over #6 MGCCC. Additionally, he earned a goal in the Win over Southwest Mississippi CC.
Football - Offense
Tray Minor, Copiah-Lincoln Community College
(So., RB - Natchez, Miss., 1)
Tray Minor had his best game in a Wolves uniform in their 48-0 win over Hinds. The sophomore running back set a new career high in touchdowns with three while posting the second most yards and carries of his carrer at 113 and 15 respectively. Also his 7.5 yards per attempt ties a career high while his third touchdown rush of 34 yards was the a career-long.
Football - Defense
Fredd Adams, Northwest Mississippi Community College
(Sophomore, Defensive Back - Tupelo, Miss., 8)
The Northwest defense made the biggest impact in the Rangers' 33-14 upset win over eighth-ranked East Mississippi on Saturday evening. The biggest piece of the Rangers' defense was Fredd Adams, as the sophomore defensive back racked up four interceptions for 83 yards with a pick six. Adams is one of only three players in program history to record four picks in a game, joining Vandell Grigsby (1992 vs. NEO A&M) and Johnathan Shaw (1999 vs. EMCC). Adams also had six tackles recorded in the winning effort.
Football - Special Teams
Bart Edmiston Jr., Jones College
(So, P/K - Ocean Springs, Miss., 8)
Bart Edmiston Jr., a sophomore punter/kicker from Ocean Springs, had a tremendous game in No. 10 Jones College's 27-20 loss to No. 5 Mississippi Gulf Coast. He averaged 50.8 yards on six punts with three going inside the 20-yard line and one being downed at the 4-yard line. His long punt of the night was 60 yards. He is currently averaging 42.8 yards per punt, which leads the MACCC and ranks fourth in the NJCAA.
