(JCBobcats.com/by Kevin Maloney, Assistant AD for Sports Information) - ELLISVILLE – No. 4 Jones put the finishing touches on a perfect record on its home floor with a 74-61 win over Pearl River Thursday night to claim a second consecutive NJCAA Region 23 and Gulf South District Championship.
Jones finished 18-0 at A.B. Howard Gymnasium, and with the victory, improved to a school-record 30-3. PRCC's season came to a close at 24-7.
The Wildcats led by a game-high seven with 6:51 to play in the opening half but Jones would close on a 9-2 run to take a 32-31 lead at the half.
Jones would never trail again.
LJ Hackman scored five straight in the second half to push the lead out to 41-34.
A steal and a dunk by Amillion Buggs opened a 10-point lead and it felt like the Bobcats would pull away from there.
But PRCC would score 12 of the next 16 to cut it to 52-50 with 9:00 left.
