Jones' Meloney Thames repeats as Women's Basketball Player of the Week, Northeast's Corey Stephenson picks up his first weekly award

Meloney Thames, Jones College

Meloney Thames, a 5-foot-8 sophomore guard from Choctaw Central, continues to shine for No. 10 Jones College. She had 31 points, including the game-winner 20-footer at the buzzer to help defeat No. 23 Shelton St. (AL), 69-67. She then led the team in scoring with 23 points as the Bobcats defeated Murray St. College (OK), 82-68. She averaged 27 points per game in the two wins.
Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Corey Stephenson, Northeast Mississippi Community College

Corey Stephenson was sensational during Northeast's first two games last week. The true freshman started with his first collegiate double-double of 35 points and 14 rebounds in a thrilling 119-115 OT win over East Central. He then led the Tigers to a neutral site victory over #13 John A. Logan with 21 points and 9 rebounds. Stephenson completed the week with 8 points in a loss at #23 Vincennes. For the week, Stephenson averaged 21.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.
