MACCC Soccer Players of the Week Announced
Jackson, Miss. (MACCCAthletics.com) -- The Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) Men's and Women's Soccer Players of the Week have been named following breakout performances in last week's games.
The selections are made by a 15-member panel. This week's awardees are:
MEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER - Franco Fasoli, Southwest Mississippi Community College
The freshman from Rosario, Argentina helped lead The Bears to wins over Holmes and East Central to open the team's season.
MEN'S SOCCER GOALIE - Corbin Martin, Itawamba Community College
Martin was a major contributor to the Itawamba men's soccer team last week, despite a nail-biting defeat to No. 6 Jones, where the Bobcats scored only a single goal.
WOMEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER - Jennifer Enriquez, Northwest Mississippi Community
A freshman from Las Cruces, N.M., Jennifer Enriquez has quickly made an impact for Northwest. In their first two games of the season, the Lady Rangers shut out Blue Mountain College 7-0 and took out Meridian 3-1 last week. Enriquez provided one goal on four assists in the win against Blue Mountain, becoming the first Lady Ranger since 2013 to notch four assists in a single match. She provided another goal during the Lady Rangers' win at Meridian last Friday.
WOMEN'S SOCCER GOALIE - Anita Gudmundsdottir, Pearl River Community College
Gudmundsdottir made her Pearl River debut in a matchup against No. 2 Holmes and allowed just one goal. She made 12 saves including one on a penalty kick to help lead the Wildcats to the upset victory.
