In MACCC First, Layla Dyer Earns Both Volleyball Defensive and Offensive Player of the Week Honors

Volleyball - Offense
Layla Dyer, Northwest Mississippi Community College
(So, S - Lafayette, La., 10)
Northwest sophomore setter Layla Dyer continues to widen the gap in the program's single-season and career assists category. In four matches last week, the Lafayette, La. tallied 130 total assists, including 44 in a 3-1 victory at Henderson State JV last Monday. Dyer, who posted 911 assists last season, currently has 547 for her sophomore campaign. As a team, Northwest has won seven straight matches and is 11-6 entering conference play.
Volleyball - Defense
Layla Dyer, Northwest Mississippi Community College

Northwest sophomore Layla Dyer had an impressive week on both offense and defense, helping the Lady Rangers to a 4-0 week. Aside from her 130 assists on offense, the Lafayette, La. native also led the team with 49 digs for the week, while also earning four blocks and a service ace. Dyer reached her season-high of 18 digs in last Monday's win at Henderson State JV, and had 12 at Freed-Hardeman JV and 11 against Coastal Alabama-South. For the season, she leads the team with 168 digs.
Women's Soccer - Offense
Laylah Johnson, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College
(Fr, DEF - Gulfport, 27)
Laylah Johnson, a freshman left winger from Gulfport, was dominant for Mississippi Gulf Coast in the opening week of MACCC play. She had a goal and two assists in a 5-0 win over East Central, then exploded for four goals in a 6-2 win over Southwest Mississippi.
Women's Soccer - Goalkeeper
Annabelle Holman, Itawamba Community College
(FR, GK - Amory, MS, 30)
Freshman keeper Annabelle Holman had a season-best 15 saves in Itawamba's 2-1 win in a full 90 minutes in net at Meridian. She added four saves in a 5-0 win in 60-plus minutes in net vs East Mississippi.
Men's Soccer - Offense
Yohan Bedoya, Copiah-Lincoln Community College
(Fr., MID - Bogota, Colombia, 10)
Yohan Bedoya had an excellent week for the Wolves as they went 1-1. The freshman midfielder from Bogota, Colombia started his week with a brace earning a pair of goals and an assist in the Wolves 6-1 win over the Lions and then finished with one goal in the Wolves, 5-4 loss against the No. 11 Wildcats. Bedoya also had eight shots on goal this week for the Wolves!
Men's Soccer - Goalkeeper
Elliot Duffy, Hinds Community College

Duffy was dominate in goal this week for the Eagles as he posted 14 saves and only gave up one goal in two matches this week.
Football - Offense
Troy Griffin, Mississippi Delta Community College
(Sophomore, QB - Indianola, Mississippi, 5)
Indianola native Troy Griffin, a sophomore quarterback, helped lead the Delta Trojans to a 23-7 Homecoming victory this past Thursday afternoon on the Sandy Wilson field at Jim Randall Stadium, in Moorhead, Mississippi. This is the first victory over the Hinds Eagles that Trojan Football has enjoyed in almost 20 years. Backup, Quarterback Griffin was 11 of 18 throwing at a 61% clip for 74 yards, with 1 touchdown toss and no interceptions. Young Griffin also did a lot of damage to the Eagles defense by scoring 2 touchdowns with his legs on 15 carriers for 125 total rushing yards. Griffin's long run was a 58 yard scamper to the endzone late in the fourth quarter. The Trojans improve to a 1-2 overall record and will travel to take on Itawamba Community College this coming Thursday evening. Number 5 was just shy of 200 total yards gained on the day for the Trojans and was outstandingly productive with 3 touchdowns scored and no turnovers recorded.
Football - Defense
Jaiyden Thompson, Itawamba Community College
(SO, LB - Okolona, MS, 0D)
Sophomore linebacker Jaiyden Thompson (Okolona) was everywhere defensively in Itawamba's 36-34 win at East Mississippi. Thompson had a career-high 18 tackles (11 solo; 7 assists) with one sack, two tackles for loss and a pass breakup to help Itawamba snap a 10-game losing streak to East Mississippi.
Football - Special Teams
Morgan Craft, Pearl River Community College
(Fr, K - Picayune, Miss., 39)
Morgan Craft (Picayune) had a career-night for Pearl River against East Central, draining a walk-off 32-yard field goal to knock off the Warriors. He finished 3-for-3 on field goals with makes from 38, 34 and 32. He was also 2-for-2 on extra point attempts.
